With Time Machine, you can preview your backed up files before restoring them. You can go back to any specific time and see what your files and folders looked like before you decide to recover them. This allows you to quickly restore the version you want.
I have had two time machine problems that made my IMAC unusable and data unrecoverable twice. My saving position was an independent external HD backup and cloud storage. Never again. Its cloud and local HD back up with Time machine for versioning which is about all it is good for. Even Apple support experts could not help.

The TM160 POE clock is a low profile clock based on the same hardware and software as our other NTP digital clock displays. The bright red digits are 0.5 inches tall. Hello, I just got a 2020 MacBook Air with a 1TB internal hard drive. My wife and I will be sharing this as our main cpu with each of our individual profiles to access. I use it more for casual use, and she is a teacher and will be using it quite a bit for work. Do you recommend going the HDD route, or SSD for Time machine backup? Also, how much storage do you think we should have for our backup? Thanks!
Assuming I could convince others that the machine exists and would work, I would gather unto me a VERY small group of trusted investors to help me with the lowest-risk, highest-gain ideas. I imagine any time within ten years before I was born would be rife with the opportunities and potential benefits of 20/20 hindsight, even here in Cleveland :)

Maybe not gems, but whatever the maximum value per density and volume you can find. Stuff it in your backpack and go back and give it to earliest, most responsible self (maybe when you were 23-25 or something like that).
